Johnson College Prep is one of ten campuses operated by the Noble Network of Charter Schools. For more than a decade, Noble has delivered an outstanding public education to students from underserved communities in Chicago. Noble's founders, Michael and Tonya Milkie, former teachers at two Chicago high schools, believed their students could reach higher levels of academic achievement and discipline, and they committed themselves to creating a quality school choice that offered just that. Because of the amazing results they realized at Noble Street, they were engaged to expand their vision. Today, the Noble Network of Charter Schools includes ten high schools that make college acceptance and graduation a reality for more of Chicago's deserving youth.
Johnson College Prep opened its doors in 2010 and is named for John and Eunice Johnson, African-American pioneers. Together, they overcame many odds and founded the Johnson Publishing Company, famous for its Ebony and Jet Magazine publications. The campus name was chosen by a group of African-American entrepreneurs, led by Marty Nesbitt, who collectively matched a donation from the Pritzker Traubert Foundation. The Johnson legacy shares strong alignment with Noble's mission and exemplifies the value of receiving quality schooling. By naming our school after this dynamic family, JCP scholars are reminded daily that the hard work of education the Noble Way will pay off!
